Without the help of donations from our sponsors and individual members of the community, PDAP wouldn’t be able to provide the supplies and services necessary to help people live a drug free lifestyle.
PDAP hosts three main fundraisers each year
Courage to Change Cook-Off – February
This event is a sanctioned International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) cooking event. Teams that participate in this event are able to use the extra points earned to enter the big competition “Cooking on the Rio” later in the month. We had 20 teams participate last year in and plan on having even more this year because it was such a great event. Each team pays an entry fee of $150 and are able to compete in the following three categories: brisket, pork spare ribs, and ½ chicken. We also have 3 side competitions that teams are able to enter for $25 each which are; beans, pan de campo, and fajitas. Since the event is in early February the weather is still nice and fresh. It is a great way to spend quality time with family and friends not to mention give back to a great cause. Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Conference – April
We host a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) conference along with Tropical Texas Behavioral Health (TTBH) and Department of Rehabilitation at UTRGV. Students and professionals are able to receive CEU credits that have the following licenses: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LCDC, and CRC. Credits are also available for ethics which are needed annually. We are always working very hard to tackle the newest trends in substance abuse. In addition to making sure all information presented is up to date and current with trends in our area. All speakers are professionals in their fields and have years of experience or have conducted extensive research studies on their subject material. There is a fee to attend the conference so please call our office for pricing. Sponsorships are available for this event, and booth space. Since it is an all-day conference it is a great way to promote your business or specific product that might appeal to this specific demographic. Summer Night with Friends – August
This is PDAP’s biggest and best event of the year! We incorporate great food, live music, and terrific auction items that include amazing pieces from local artist and wrap it all up in one night. Our food has been prepared by Costa Mesa for the past few years and it is always fresh and delectable. This year we had live music by Jake Cortez that really set the ambience as a true Havana Style theme. In addition to the great music we were blessed this year to have local artist Jason Perez on our committee and helped us bring in some beautiful works of art. We have great talent in this area and PDAP has been blessed to have works donated from; Carlos Villarreal, Javier Espinoza, Veronica Vera, Marco Govea and of course Jason Perez. Since this fundraiser is always our biggest we encourage all businesses to get involved in some way not only to help our great organization but to help get your company recognition through our different sponsorship packages. If you’re a smaller company or you just want to give towards this event we are always accepting silent auction items please just call our office for ideas on what is missing in our auction.
